I've some very kind messages over the past few months asking where I've gone and if I'm okay, so here's a quick update.

In August last year I caught covid and I haven't really recovered. Drawing has been a bit of a challenge, because I can't sit up for very long and bed + ink + watery paints is not a happy combo.

Hopefully better days are ahead, but in the meantime I've started drawing a tiny bit every day that I can. I've really missed the lovely feeling of community on Instagram, so I hope you're all doing okay and thanks so much to everyone who sent lovely messages and sorry that I probably didn't reply.
I've been holding off sharing this drawing on Inst I've been holding off sharing this drawing on Instagram. But not because I don't like it, actually quite the opposite. I am so proud of it (it might be one of my favourite drawings I've ever done) that I couldn't quite bring myself to offer it up to the Instagram algorithm gods.

Because I know my confidence and creative conviction shouldn't rely on likes and shares, but it's really hard not to take it personally when a post doesn't do 'well' on social media.

But I don't want to turn into some sort of insecure art dragon, sitting on a growing hoard of work that I love. So here you go, from me and the art dragon 🐉🎨
These are the buildings and boats from my Hamburg These are the buildings and boats from my Hamburg map. I coloured them digitally for some reason, which took me 8x longer than normal painting. Isn't digital supposed to be more efficient? Must practice more.

Anyway, the container ship is unexpectedly my favourite thing (and the less said about the trees the better).

Fun fact - I lived in Hamburg for a wee while, many moons ago. It's a lovely city full of very good cake and beautiful buildings.

I had the nicest time drawing all the wee columns too - very soothing for the brain.

Earlier in the summer, I went to visit my parents Earlier in the summer, I went to visit my parents for the first time in nearly a year (which is far too long to be away when you have parents as nice as mine). Dad welcomed me home with an absolute mountain of baking - sourdough bread, baguettes, little nutty biscuits, two kinds of biscotti (both delicious), tiny orange biscuits filled with nutella, and a three stand plaited loaf with each strand a different flavour. It was so lovely I nearly cried.
